Everything you need to know about Shark Invoice.

Getting started

You can create invoices two ways. From WhatsApp: send a message to Shark Invoice with the invoice details. Shark Invoice extracts the client, items, and amount, generates a GST-compliant invoice as a PDF, and sends it back to you. You then forward it to your client on your own WhatsApp. From the dashboard: sign in at sharkinvoice.com, go to Invoices → New Invoice. Fill in client details, add line items with GST rates, and click Create. You get a shareable link and a PDF download.

No. Shark Invoice works for both GST-registered and unregistered businesses. If you're registered, add your GSTIN during onboarding and Shark Invoice will calculate CGST/SGST/IGST correctly. If you're not registered, GST fields are automatically disabled — your invoices will show subtotal only (as required by CGST Act §32 for unregistered businesses).

You message Shark Invoice on WhatsApp (your sender phone is linked to your account via a one-time 6-digit code). Shark Invoice generates invoices, quotes, and payment reminders based on your messages and sends them back to you. You then forward to your client. Shark Invoice never messages your clients directly — you control every customer touchpoint.

All your data — invoices, clients, business details — is stored on Supabase servers in Mumbai, India (ap-south-1 region). Data never leaves India.

Pricing

Free includes 5 invoices and 5 quotes per month with a "Powered by Shark Invoice" footer on PDFs. Pro includes unlimited invoices and quotes, payment reminders, and removes the footer. Both have WhatsApp + web access.

₹499/month or ₹4,500/year (saves ~25%, effective ~₹375/month). Prices are GST-inclusive — no extra GST charged at checkout.

Sign in → Settings → Billing → Upgrade. Razorpay Checkout opens with options for UPI Autopay, cards, or net banking. Once paid, your account upgrades immediately.

Sign in → Settings → Billing → Cancel Subscription. You'll keep Pro access until the end of your current billing period, then automatically move to Free. No early-cancellation fees.

No. All your invoices, clients, and history remain. You just have a 5/month invoice limit going forward.

We don't offer refunds. You can cancel anytime via Settings → Billing to stop future billing. Your Pro access continues until the end of the current billing period.

At the moment, to change your billing cycle, please cancel your current subscription from Settings → Billing and re-subscribe with your preferred billing cycle. We're working on in-app billing cycle switching for a future update.

WhatsApp

Sign in → click WhatsApp in the sidebar. You'll see Shark Invoice's WhatsApp number, a QR code, and a 6-digit OTP. Save Shark Invoice's number as a contact, scan the QR or message the number with the OTP. That links your phone to your business account.

Yes. Shark Invoice works alongside any WhatsApp app (regular, Business, or Business API). Your existing WhatsApp setup doesn't change.

WhatsApp display name approval is pending with Meta. For now, you'll see the raw phone number. We've added "Save as 'Shark Invoice'" guidance so your contact list shows the right name.

The web dashboard at sharkinvoice.com works independently. Create invoices and quotes there even if WhatsApp is having issues.

For now, invoices created via WhatsApp don't include HSN/SAC codes. If your business requires HSN/SAC on invoices (per GST rules based on your turnover and B2B classification), please create those invoices via the web dashboard which has a dedicated HSN/SAC field. We're working on smart HSN handling for WhatsApp in a future update.

GST

No. Shark Invoice creates GST-compliant invoices but doesn't file returns. Use the invoices generated here as input for your GST filing via your accountant or the GSTR-1 portal.

Each line item has a GST rate (0%, 5%, 12%, 18%, or 28%). Based on your business state and your client's state: same state (intrastate) → CGST + SGST split 50/50; different state (interstate) → IGST. If your business has a GSTIN but your client's state isn't registered, Shark Invoice defaults to your business state. For exports or zero-rated supplies, select 0% rate per item.

Not currently supported. These are on the V2 roadmap.

Yes — you can add HSN/SAC codes to each line item manually. Auto-suggestion from item name is on the roadmap.

Payments

No. Shark Invoice never touches customer money. Your customers pay you directly via UPI, bank transfer, or whatever method you offer. Shark Invoice generates the invoice and the payment instructions — you collect the money.

You can add UPI ID and bank account during onboarding (both optional). Invoices show UPI QR code + bank details, so customers can pay via UPI (scan QR with any UPI app), IMPS/NEFT/RTGS (using bank details), or whatever method you prefer. You record payments manually in the dashboard or via WhatsApp message to Shark Invoice.

When recording payment, you can specify how much TDS your client withheld. Shark Invoice tracks this separately so your "Amount Due" reflects what the client actually owes after TDS deduction.

Account & technical

Two options: email magic link (we send a link to your inbox, click to sign in) or Google Sign-In. Both are passwordless. Email/password sign-in is coming soon.

Not yet. Invoice CSV/PDF export is on the V1.5 roadmap.

Most fields can be edited in Settings → Business Profile. Business state currently can't be edited mid-session (on the roadmap).
